DURHAM -- Northern High School Class of 1969 is holding its reunion at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Hilton on Hillsborough Road.

Composting bin workshop
DURHAM -- Make your own indoor composting bin at the Scrap Exchange Make and Take Worm Bin workshop on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The cost is $40 (includes supplies), at The Scrap Exchange, 548 Foster St.
Make your own tidy and efficient indoor composting bin specially designed for composting in apartments or tight spaces. This workshop includes supplies to construct your own bin, instruction from seasoned composting experts Bianca Howard (city of Raleigh Solid Waste Management) and Muriel Williman (Orange County Solid Waste Management), and of course, worms.

Halloween bike ride planned
DURHAM -- The sixth-annual Halloween Bike Ride that benefits Habitat for Humanity of Durham is slated for Oct. 31.
Cyclists will meet at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Pre-registered check-in and walk-on registration opens at 7:30 a.m. The ride begins at 9 a.m.
Experience scenic views of Durham County on 31-, 62- or 100-mile routes. All routes are fully supported and start and finish at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham. The pre-registration fee is $35 and the walk-on registration fee is $45.
All proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Durham and help build homes, hope, and community.
Musical on stage at NCCU
DURHAM -- North Carolina Central University's Department of Theatre presents its season opener, "Slappin' God in the Face," written and directed by faculty member Stephanie Howard, assistant professor of theatre at NCCU.
The musical is based on the suspicion stirred by the ministry of Jesus Christ and the betrayal that led to his crucifixion. The play concentrates on the social and political unrest caused by the presence of Jesus Christ.
With a cast of 30, including NCCU students and community members, the production is filled with poetry, dance, tradition and contemporary gospel music.
Performances will take place at the University Theatre in the Farrison-Newton Communications Building on the corner of Lawson and Fayetteville Streets. The scheduled dates are Oct. 9 and 10 at 8 p.m., and today and Oct. 11 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for any student (with ID), seniors, and children 4 to 17 years old. Children under 4 years are not admitted. For ticket information, call (919) 530-5170.
