New head, members of NCCU BOT take office
DURHAM -- Glenn Adams is the new chairman of the North Carolina Central University Board of Trustees.
The board also has elected other new officers and new members Harold Epps Jr., Paul Pope Jr. and Student Government Association President Dwayne Johnson.
Adams, the senior partner in the Fayetteville law firm of Adams, Burge & Boughman, succeeds Kay Thomas as chair of the trustees.
He has served on NCCU's board for six years.
The new vice chairman is Charles Baron, who has served for four years on the board. Baron has served as dean of administration and chief legal officer at Medgar Evers College in New York.
Baron also was director of administration and management for the Council on Wage and Price Stability for the executive office of the president of the United States.
Dwight Perry, who has served on the board for two years, is the panel's new secretary. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist in private practice.
Epps is the president of PRWT, a business firm based in Philadelphia. Pope recently retired as vice president of Capitol Broadcasting Company and general manager of the American Tobacco Historic District.
Johnson is a history education major in his junior year.
Leaving the board are R. Edward Stewart, Bishop Eddie Long and George Miller III.
