Duke vs. NCCU breakdown
On paper, this is a rare matchup for Duke in this stage of its rebuilding where the Blue Devils know they should be successful if they play well.
That may be easier said than done.
"At this point, we're not a good football team," Duke coach David Cutclifffe said. "We can't consistently make errors and be as good as we can be."
IT'S ALL ABOUT EXECUTION
N.C. Central has some talented athletes, imposing size along its offensive line and some shifty schemes that fuel the defense.
For the Eagles to have a chance, all of those factors must come into play. If NCCU can use its speed and some well-rehearsed trickery to keep the Blue Devils guessing, it could be an interesting game.
But if the Eagles make mistakes while trying to make plays, they could be in a lot of trouble.
INTANGIBLES
Does NCCU's excitement over this historic opportunity inspire a tremendous effort, or do the Eagles exert too much emotional energy early.
Will Duke take care of business, or will the Blue Devils get uptight about what a loss would mean if things go poorly?
The answers to those questions should go a long ways toward determining the final score.
